About the author

I am not a teacher, a monk, a guru, a roshi, or any kind of authority on Buddhism. I took Jukai (lay Zen ordination) on January 17th, 2009 with my teacher Jundo Cohen in the Soto Zen tradition. My Buddhist name is Shinkai, which means “ocean of fidelity.” I live in Austin, Texas, and occasionally sample our local Buddhist flavor with groups like Austin Zen Center and the Austin Shambhala Meditation Center.

Dharmacore is a labor of love based on my experience of Buddhism as an Internet-addicted 20-something dedicated to looking at the truth of my own experience.
